Events

The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests (MEWF) organized during the May 19-20, 2014 period, the workshop dedicated to macroeconomic impact modeling within the project « Operationalization of the National Strategy on Climate Changes and development of the climate component within the 2014 – 2020 Operational Programs ».

The objectives of the event organized for a period of two days were the following:

  • discussions regarding the energy demand modeling component in the residential, commercial and services, industrial and transportation sectors;
  • TIMES model: example regarding the introduction of data, calibration and operation; presentation of the outcomes and their interpretation.

The workshop relied on dialog, debate and assimilation of all the opinions in a joint approach.

The Government of Romania, by means of MEWF, wants to build through this project a solid analytical data base in order to evaluate the economic and social impact, the costs and benefits of the policies and measures in order to develop an economy resilient to climate change. The model’s establishment process – Computable General Equilibrium – was already started and it focuses on integrating the data in the following key sectors: energy, transportation, agriculture, forestry, waters.
