Events

On September 16, 2015, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests organized a workshop dedicated to the financial support mechanisms of the climate policies in various economic sectors, especially by utilizing the amounts obtained by the Romanian state from auctioning GHG emissions allowances.

The revenues obtained from GHG emissions allowances allocated to the Romanian state represented in 2014 approximately 90 million EUR. As it is already known, the majority of these revenues must be utilized for climate relevant projects, regardless of the economic sector. The legislation in force, although articulated in the essential points, requires improvements in order to increase the efficiency and traceability while using these funds. It has to support projects that will optimize the climate benefits and the financial ones, by increasing the interest and involving the stakeholders.

The workshop analyzed the manner in which the funding options can be prioritized for various sectors and measures, as well as what legal and institutional aspects are still to be solved, corrected or supplemented.
