Conference: “2014-2020 Operational Programs and climate obligations: are we prepared to invest European funds?”

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests (MEWF) organized on November 27, 2014 the Conference “2014-2020 Operational Programs and climate obligations: are we prepared to invest European funds?”

The conference is organized within the “OPERA CLIMA project: Operationalization of the national strategy on climate change and development of the climate component within the 2014-2020 Operational Programs”, funded through the 2007 – 2013 OPTA and implemented in collaboration with the World Bank. The event marks the completion of component B of the aforementioned project, which is meant to facilitate and support the introduction of the EU requirements regarding climate changes in the 2014 – 2020 Operational Programs.

After the conference which was organized on May 6, 2014, at the headquarters of the Ministry of European Funds, when the Partnership Agreement concluded between Romanian and the European Commission was debated, the event of November 27 underlined the progress which was attained and the perspectives opened by means of the operational programs which are being negotiated with the European Commission following the preliminary versions which were submitted to the Commission.

Under discussion were the elements which resulted from the working versions of the 2014-2020 Operational Programs (OP Technical Assistance, OP Competitiveness, OP Large Infrastructure, NPRD), focusing on including the priorities and actions related to climate changes (greenhouse gas emissions abatement, energy efficiency, renewable energies, adapting to climate change etc.).
